Farmers all over India are protesting against three new bills which they feel will harm their interests. The bills, passed by Parliament, make it easier for farmers to sell their produce directly to private buyers and enter into a contract with private companies. The government hopes private sector investments will stimulate growth.
Opposition parties, led by the Congress, called the bills ‘black law’ and accused Prime Minister Modi of ‘making farmers slaves of the capitalists’.
