Unprecedented scenes and serpentine queues were seen outsides liquor outlets across India on Monday as they opened their shutters for the first time in over 40 days amid the coronavirus lockdown. Needless to say, social distancing norms and safe practices took a backseat as people clambered over each other for their choice of beverage. While this indeed poses a risk to India's attempts of curbing the pandemic, it is undeniable that alcohol sales bring in a lot of revenue that can be crucial in these times.
